Uncertainty Of Measurement In Torque Wrenches

A Feanor product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 10, 2004

The proposal of the Caltorque project is the definition of common guidelines and examples for the evaluation of the uncertainty of measurement for torque wrenches.

The proposal of the Caltorque project is the definition of common guidelines and examples for the evaluation of the uncertainty of measurement for torque wrenches TW (dial, clicker and slipper TW) and the development of a new torque wrench design with improved accuracy and repeatability.

Results of this study could be relevant for National Metrology Institutes, calibration laboratories, manufacturers and users of TW.

They would also affect and integrate next issues of calibration standards.

Metrology Institutes from Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Sweden have already shown their interest in participating to this project.

The first Mutorque proposal has not been accepted, due to a lack of industrial partners in the consortium (a necessary prerequisite from support within the 6 Framewwork Program).

The team is now looking for partners in the aerospace or automotive industry, which could be interested in joining the consortium.
