SAMR has just opened a new 6,000m2 facility (with 1,900m2 of indoor space) housing a copper alloys foundry, a babbit foundry and a surface treatment unit for low-friction coatings.

The Societe d'Application du Metal Rouge (SAMR) has just opened a new 6,000m2 facility (with 1,900m2 of indoor space) in eastern France.

The plant employs 35 people and houses a copper alloys foundry, a babbit foundry and a surface treatment unit where low-friction coatings (electroplating) are applied to ensure that all parts are finished to specification.

The plant also has machining equipment dedicated to the manufacture of plain bearings, giving SAMR the autonomy needed to maintain the highest level of production control.

Since 1947, the Societe d'Application du Metal Rouge (SAMR) has perfected its smooth rotation techniques by targeting a highly specialised niche market: sliding bearings and parts for heat engines, compressors, pumps and reduction gears used in demanding fields such as shipbuilding, railway construction, military applications as well as the petrochemical and other heavy industries.

the SAMR engineering office can design and produce plain bearings, bearing rings, thrust bearings, skids, bearing shields, crossheads and any other part that requires the antifriction qualities of SAMR's alloys.

SAMR is both flexible and responsive to clients' needs, making it the preferred partner of major industrial groups for their new and replacement part needs.

About SAMR - SAMR specialises in small and medium-sized production runs of high value-added bi- and tri-metallic parts.

The company, whose headquarters are in eastern France, strives for excellence in the quality of its copper and white metal antifriction alloys.

It also has all the necessary expertise to apply the alloys via centrifugal casting.
