Pneumatic equipment comprehensively catalogued
Festo has launched a customised new catalogue, entitled 'Premier Products and Services 2001', covering essential items from the entire Festo product range.
Using the strength of its position as one of the founding companies and a leading participant in the formulation of the original AS-i specification, Festo has moved quickly to extend the concept and develop a new generation of ASi-EVA devices, designing the family specifically to optimise and simplify decentralised control and connectivity.
The ASi-EVA modules progress the Festo commitment to simple 'Plug and Work' automation technology solutions.
Each module is provided with preassembled cabling and valve plugs to facilitate fast and easy installation, permitting the entire Festo valve range - from miniature to maxi valves - to be flexibly and inexpensively connected to an AS Interface system via a wide range of connection options.

Cylinders offer zero rotation under torque
Automation specialist Festo has announced a new range of precision cylinders with integrated guides to offer zero rotation under torque loads and minimal deflection under lateral loads.
Just as wide as the number of connection options is the range of possible installation methods.
These include direct manifold mounting, simple wall mounting via three holes provided, slot nuts with elongated holes, a top-hat adapter kit, and customer-specific adapter plates.
In addition, the units also suit configurations demanding separate installation of the ASi-EVA and an associated application and valve - a feature made possible by the integrated output cable.
This means that ASi-EVA units can be mounted on the front of a machine with the associated valve and application installed remotely in a confined or hard-to-reach space.
Typical applications for the new devices are those that require decentralised solutions where numerous individual pneumatic actuators are distributed over a wide area; for instance conveyor systems, weighing and dosing equipment, filling and bottling plant, and handling systems.
ASi-EVA valve outputs are fed by a 2-input/1-output or 2-input/2-output module by either a cable with flying leads or one of a choice of cable options pre-fitted with plugs.
The devices include inputs for end position sensing of pneumatic actuators and valves in the one unit.
The optional additional power supply expands the range of target applications to include on-demand electrically-isolated activation and deactivation of valves, vacuum generators and other load devices, thereby ensuring the capacity for future functional system expansion.
