Front End Display makes the most of controls
The Front End Display unit helps users access and harness the power of Festo's increasingly popular range of small control solutions.
Festo has announced a new display system designed to augment its range of automation controllers.
The Front End Display unit (type: FED) helps users access and harness the power of the company's increasingly popular range of small control solutions.
The Festo display unit complements the company's controller range, such as the powerful Front End Controller (FEC) system that comprises an Industrial PC-on-a-Chip to deliver exceptional processing capability and extensive data storage capacity.
The FED provides the optimum Human-Machine Interface and acts as an accessibility tool.
Easy connectivity is facilitated by Ethernet, which also permits pass-through programming functionality; for instance, the user can program past the controller directly to the display unit for the ultimate in unambiguous message clarity.
Festo has seen a boom in the uptake of its miniature controllers - the industry's smallest, lowest cost Ethernet (and therefore Internet) compatible controllers.
Controller prices start at just under GBP 200.
These sophisticated devices also feature powerful analogue control for functions such as flow, temperature, pressure and force measurement, yet are easy to deploy in any application.
FEC units can also be interconnected using the Ethernet capability.
Now the new Festo display unit adds to the ease of use and accessibility to the array of Festo programmable controller functions.
Festo has released two display - interface variants: the FED 50 and FED 90 - the numbers representing the quantity of functions and system keys.
The former features assignable (soft) keys, while the latter unit is larger and offers hard keys.
Both are rated to IP65.
