Compressed air consumption analysis services begun

A Festo product story

Two compressed air consumption analysis services are designed to help pneumatic automation builders and end-users minimise energy usage.

Festo has announced two compressed air consumption analysis services designed to help pneumatic automation builders and end-users minimise energy usage.

The services provide the means to extend the focus on energy efficiency right down to the individual machine level, to reduce running costs, and support an organisation's wider commitment to environmental policies and standards such as ISO 14001.

Energy consumption is becoming a real differentiator for machine builders.

Combined with the growing demands of end users for validated air consumption figures, there is a major incentive to improve performance.

What hampers many is a lack of skills and appropriate technologies for accurate air consumption measurement.

Festo's new Compressed Air Consumption Analysis Service will give machinery OEMs documented air usage figures for new or existing equipment, providing a valuable benchmark that customers can use to compare against competitive equipment.

The detailed analysis provided in Festo's report also acts as a powerful tool for ongoing optimisation of energy consumption.

For end users of pneumatic automation the issues are equally clear, and Festo's Energy Saving Service provides the means to make savings.

Experience shows that by identifying and eliminating leaks, and optimising the layout of compressed air generation and distribution plant, operators can typically expect to save around 35% of their energy costs.

"Festo can help both the pneumatic machine builder and the end user to first understand and then improve energy consumption at the machine level," says Simon Fletcher of Festo.

"It's this very detailed and practical focus - extending all the way through the pneumatic system right down to the seals on fittings - that distinguishes our new service." The new analysis services are performed by skilled engineers equipped with state-of-the-art measurement equipment.
