Festo, in conjunction with its training and consultancy division, Festo Didactic, has reiterated its support for the UK WorldSkills bid and will sponsor the mechatronics element of the competition.

Festo is actively supporting UK Skills in its bid to host the WorldSkills 2011 competition in London.

During a visit by a WorldSkills delegation to London last month, during which the UK formally expressed interest in hosting the 2011 WorldSkills Competition, Festo, in conjunction with its training and consultancy division, Festo Didactic, reiterated its support for the UK bid and intention to continue to sponsor the mechatronics element of the competition.

Gary Wyles, managing director of Festo UK, points out, "It is heartening to see that the UK government and devolved assemblies are making a firm commitment toward vocational skills development and supporting this bid.

For manufacturing in particular, the continuous development of vocational skills from school years to in-work training and development is critical in ensuring that our industry remains competitive.

Festo is delighted to be supporting UK Skills in its bid to host the WorldSkills 2011 competition in London.".
