Precision CNC milling centres range up
to 4000mm
A wide range of various sizes of continuous path 3- and multi-axis CNC milling machines range from a 3-axis 600x500x400mm model to 5-axis types with up to 4000mm X-axis traverse.
Steadily in evolution the range of Fidia High Speed Milling machines presently includes up to 20 models that differ in size and power All of them are featured by the same vocation to high speed and by the continuous 3- or 5-axis precision machining

CNC updating kits improve machine tools
CNC updating kits, to improve machine tool productivity and facilitate maintenance, renews CNC technical components without modifying existing wiring, save time and cost.
The small HS664, shown at the Tebis stand at the recent Bi-Mu exhibition in Milan, Italy, is capable, in the 3-axis version, of a 600mm x 560mm x 400mm traverses and a 565mm workable diameter.
In the 5-axis version it is suitable for both steel moulds and graphite copper electrodes.
The range then presents the D series suited for 5-axis finishing operations with Y and Z traverses respectively of 1000 and 800mm and X traverses of 2000 to 4000mm.

Bi-rotary milling head delivers high power
Continuous bi-rotary head is ideal for medium size or large milling machines that perform high speed roughing out to finishing cutting and offers higher torque and power.
NC system enables high machine tool performance
A flexible and economic numerical control can be used for various machine tool control applications: milling machines for moulds and dies, machining centres and grinding machines.
CNC connected device checks positioning accuracy
A CNC-connected device for measuring and adjusting bi-rotary, continuous or indexed heads, or rotary-tilting tables checks and corrects geometric errors, improving positioning accuracy.
Thanks to its exclusive mix in size, precision and compactness, this Series finds its natural positioning where other machines do not arrive, to say in delicate deburring operations or in the production of big electrodes and sophisticated prototypes.
For its precision, flexibility and for the strength of its 5-axis head (equipped with an HSK63A powerful electrospindle, able to develop 88Nm at 6000 rev/min, and still 22Nm at 24000 rrev/min), the K series instead satisfies the needs of heavier capacities even on steel or on aluminium alloy parts.
This grants working volumes of 1m3 for the K199 model, to 3m3 for the K211 model and to 6.5m3 for the K414 model.
The requirement for a five-sides machining of parts reaching a maximum 2500mm diameter is then satisfied by the 'KR' versions, equipped with a continuous rotating table.
Instead, the need for big surfaces, high flexibility in use and reduced times finds once more an answer in the K series thanks to solutions like the 'Y2K' Boxer machine, to say a sophisticated 5-axis high speed milling system assembled with two K Series standard machines, sharing the same table.
This solution is highly appreciated by the Aerospace field and the recent supply to Messier Dowty for the production of aircraft landing gears proves it.
Last but not least, the newly born G996 Fidia machine is the result of a 15-year experience in the production of high speed milling centres: it is equipped with the HSK63A, a powerful 105Nm electrospindle able to reach 24.000 rev/min.
It also represents the right solution for those wanting to perform top quality roughing and finishing operations at the same time on stainless steel or metal alloys .
On its stand at Bi-Mu 2006 Fidia exhibited the 'MP630/6' multi-pallet workstation in this version with six pallets.
It is an answer to the growing need of conjugating HSC (high speed cutting) milling performances with a long production autonomy.
The mentioned G996 is called 'RT', and is equipped with a continuous rotary and tilting table, allowing for a 5-axis high speed machining, in full load and on its five sides, of pieces weighing up to 1000kg and having up to 1m diameter.
The multi-pallet Fidia solution is composed by a two-, four-, six-, eight- or more 630x630mm pallet modular system and each pallet carries up to 1000kg.
A special shuttle manages them all and they are then stored in vertical warehouses, designed to minimize the engaged surface on the floor.
Equipped with its own MP630 pallet change system, the G996RT machine is therefore able to produce value-added parts like precision components, moulds, and impellers allowing unattended night shifts operations thus increasing the overall efficiency of the investment.
Although all loading and unloading operations are performed in a background mode, the Fidia property system allows for the successful management of both the pallet set up and the machining supervision.
This enables the operator's intervention, when and where it is required, in full safety and without being compelled to stop the machining.
The suggested pallets interface most precision reference systems present on the market thus satisfying all the requisites the MTBs or the aerospace manufacturers demand to the small or medium size machine tools.
The MP630 Multi Pallet system is available for all the G996 versions (3-axis, bi-indexed head, continuous 5-axis head as well as two 'RT' models equipped with rotary and tilting tables).
* FFidia-Xpower: an integrated machine tool system - the development of high-speed milling machines requires increasingly high performance control systems that can be adapted to the particular mechanical structure of modern machine tools.
The modern numerical control can no longer be devel- oped as a stand alone element, but must form part of an integrated machine tool management system.
The system components are: an adequate fieldbus, the CNC - with a powerful user interface and flexbile PLC - the drives and the I/O management modules.
In response to these technical considerations, Fidia has developed 'Xpower' - an integrated machine tool management system.
The Fidia FFB ( Fidia Field Bus ) forms the 'high-speed' connection between the various machine tool parts and devices.
Axis commands, via the Xpower drives, and management of the machine tool logic, by means of the LUX I/O modules, are integrated on this bus by the Fidia NC.
This integration results in optimum performance on all types of machine tool while, at the same time, considera- bly simplifying connections, installation and maintenance.
The name 'Xpower', bringing together the NC and the drives, emphasises the close link between these two ele- ments that is necessary in order to guarantee high level results in terms of speed and machining quality.
A direct connection between the NC and the drives allows for op- timum management of different types of motors, making possible a more in-depth control of the dynamic charac- teristics of the machine tool.
The innovative LUX I/O modules with infrared optical connection technology offer increased reliability, flexibility and practicality for the machine tool interface.
Integration is completed by the NC user interface from which all the necessary operations are performed for the configuration, parameterization and installation of the drives and I/O modules, including the programming and debugging of the PLC according to the IEC1131 standard.
