FFP Packaging Solutions has developed its Esterpeel lidding film to include a lidding steam and pressure cook device for all types of microwave ready meals and vegetables.

The new lidding film incorporates a special valve that automatically vents part way through the cook cycle to allow steam from the product to escape.

During the early part of the cook process, before the valve opens, the pack works like a pressure cooker, maintaining flavour and colour.

The valve opens after a time to relieve the pressure and finish the cooking cycle.

The food remains moist and succulent, improving quality as well as adding convenience.

The Estersteam valve does not affect the way the film runs in production, so efficiencies are not affected it is claimed.

In addition, because the valve is pre-applied, the system is versatile, running on any lidding line that can run registered film, and is available to suit any commonly used tray type.
