FFP Packaging Solutions has received three awards for its Estergreen LD1AF sustainable lidding film made from polylactic acid (PLA), an annually renewable material based on corn starch.

FFP Packaging Solutions has been awarded three silver awards in the prestigious 2007 Starpack Awards FFP's Estergreen LD1AF sustainable lidding film was honoured in categories: Best Innovation to Reduce Waste, Best Use of Innovative Materials and Best Component

Estergreen LD1AF is made from polylactic Acid (PLA), an annually renewable material based on corn starch.

FFP has taken the lidding application several steps further - coating Estergreen LD1AF so that it provides a smooth peel seal from the tray and consumers don't have the messy and potentially dangerous task of cutting the film away with a knife or scissors.

Estergreen LD1AF is also anti-mist coated, improving the presentation of the product on-shelf.

Estergreen LD1AF also heralds the introduction of a new brand from FFP, Estergreen, so called because it represents the best in environmentally responsible flexible packaging materials.

Estergreen's philosophy is "Reduce, Renew, Recycle", and FFP work with customers to develop solutions that lower material usage, or make the best use of sustainable or recycled materials.

All the awards were made in the "Technical Innovation" section of the competition, FFP winning more awards in this section than any other entrant this year.

The awards underline FFP's commitment to continuous innovation, constantly seeking the new ideas that will allow their customers to add value to their products.
