Laser scanner service utilised by metrology firm
A metrology firm has employed Faro Technologies' Laser Tracker and ScanArm to service automotive and aerospace customers with demanding manufacturing problems.
A metrology firm had automotive and aerospace customers that required solutions to the most complex manufacturing problems.
They needed to: build variation, conduct quality inspection on large-scale freeform surface components, undertake MasterCAD creation, and first-article inspection.
If the company's customers were to take on these tasks themselves, they would need an entire team or department within their organisation to do so.
In other cases, their clients would have to shut down machines in order to fulfill the required inspections, which costs them lost time and money.
Meeting this growing demand meant that the metrology company needed a system that would be extremely accurate, dependable and portable so they could easily visit customer sites and provide the necessary reports.
The Faro Laser Tracker and a Faro Laser ScanArm completed their "Technology Toolbox", so they can now offer customers an extension of their own internal department and fill a niche by offering a solution to complicated manufacturing problems.
They chose a Faro Tracker X for its high accuracy, ease of use and portability.
"With powerful and effective tools, innovative technologies and a lot of creativity, we are able to provide extraordinary solutions to modern-day manufacturing," said the company's director of sales and consulting.
"Of course, cost effectiveness is at the top of our list.
America needs to get the most from its manufacturing base - now more than ever - and we're there to help".
"Adding the Faro Tracker completes our 'Technology Tool Box'," said the company's project manager.
"Combining the Tracker with the Faro ScanArm gives us an advantage in large-scale projects such as analysing the build of a complete aircraft.
The ScanArm allows us to collect data with high detail when needed and the Faro Tracker gives us the ability to create the coordinate targets and collect data on more ruled surfaces.
We now have a toolbox to take on and successfully complete the most complex reverse engineering, inspection or analysis project in the Aerospace or Automotive industries".
They are successful today because they clearly understand both sides of the solution to the complex manufacturing problems.
"Being able to quickly and easily set up anywhere with a Faro Tracker has really made my life easier and my business more profitable," said a company director.
