Johnny Omundson of Talon Motorsports will use a Faro Laser Tracker and Platinum Faro ScanArm to customise a 1970 Chevelle on Hot Rod TV.

The 2007 series of Hot Tod TV will be televised on ESPN2, showcasing a 26-week project to modernise a 1970 Chevelle.

The lead engineer, Johnny ("Johnny O") Omundson of Talon Motorsports, will use a Faro Laser Tracker and Platinum Faro ScanArm to apply advanced CAD-design and reverse engineering techniques to the custom build.

Appropriately-labeled Project Mean Green, the one-of-a-kind Chevelle will retain the look and raw horsepower of the monster classic, but run on environmentally-safe alternative fuel.

The car will ride on a custom four-wheel independent inboard pushrod suspension and feature a body detailed by award-winning automobile designer Chip Foose.

The collaboration between Faro and Talon Motorsports/O Brother's Design will showcase how technological advances in computer-aided design will shape the custom automobile market for years to come.

"I look forward to a long relationship with Faro," Johnny O said.

"We have many high profile projects inline and can't wait to show the planet what we as a team can design and produce".
