Portable, lightweight 3D measurements
A manufacturer of components for air conditioning systems turned to Faro Technologies for a low-cost way to capture, record and display 3D measurements.
A leader in manufacturing distributors, couplings, valves and value-added assemblies for commercial and residential air conditioning systems was using hard measurement tools and a Supragage Laser to measure tubes However, these tools proved cumbersome and ineffective in all areas of production

Portable CMM software gets 250 enhancements
There are 250 enhancements in the latest version of portable arm CMM software, including a new user interface that shares a common 'look and feel' with existing software.
Powerful HighRES CAD/CAM added to laser tracker
By providing a reverse engineering software module with its laser tracking system, a CMM supplier says its users no longer need to import 3D data from stand-alone platforms.
The company had an immediate need to improve tube bending corrections, fixture verification, and spindle alignment in order to meet the demands of important customers like Carrier, Maytag and Lennox.
Simplicity was key - the measurement system had to be easy to program and cost-effective, without compromising accuracy.
With point and click simplicity, the FaroArm captures, records and displays all of a part's 3-D measurements on its accompanying laptop and is compatible with most industry-leading CAD/CAM software.
Operators can generate pre-programmed or fully customised SPC and GDandT reports in order to monitor production and provide documentation to customers.
The portable, lightweight device provided the company with an effective method of digitally capturing measurements for a vast array of parts, including 0.25-2.25" OD tubing, braze fixtures, and machine spindles.
At a fraction of the cost of a fixed CMM, the FaroArm uses state-of-the-art technology, such as built-in temperature compensators for the accuracy needed (up to .0005" on the Platinum model) directly on the plant floor.
A manufacturing engineer at the firm, declared the FaroArm easy to program, citing fantastic support from Faro's dedicated Account Managers and Application Engineers.
He is so pleased with the FaroArm's capabilities that he has recommended it to several local partners. Request a free brochure from Faro UK ...
