The FLTA runs a Safe User Group that dispenses advice which is appropriate, concise and immediately accessible for users of fork lift trucks.

According to Health and Safety Executive figures, fork lift trucks are involved in more than 8000 serious accidents each year At the forefront of efforts to reduce the tragic resulting toll in human life and suffering is the Fork Lift Truck Association

Aware that users of fork lift trucks are faced with mountains of documentation related to Health and Safety, the FLTA runs a Safe User Group specifically for their benefit.

This dispenses advice which is appropriate, concise and immediately accessible.

By doing so, it saves time and money for businesses while helping to make the workplace a safer environment for all.

The FLTA Safe User Group lends an authoritative voice with a strong influence on manufacturers, dealers, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the legislators.

It also gives practical help to its members in the form of a dedicated helpline and a range of informative publications, including Technical Bulletins.

These Technical Bulletins are produced whenever clarification is needed on a key safety issue within the materials handling industry.

One of the most recent, for instance, answers some frequently asked questions on the subject of Thorough Examination.

Others have made the position clear for fork lift users on, for example, seatbelt legislation and the use of fork lift trucks on public highways.

For practical reasons, the Association is not able to supply copies of its Technical Bulletins to the public.

However, they are provided free of charge to members of the Safe User Group - along with an extensive range of other materials and services.

Even better - membership of the FLTA Safe User Group costs less than GBP15 per month and offers benefits including: quarterly newsletters; Technical Bulletins; health and safety updates; guidance on legislation; an independent helpline; access to specialist publications.

The Safe User Group enjoys the full backing of the Fork Lift Truck Association, which is acknowledged as the most representative body of its type in Europe and a leading authority on safety.

Those joining can take advantage of the privileged information and support available from the FLTA.

Moreover, being a member of the Group makes the clearest possible statement to a company's customers and staff that it is committed to safety.

A catalogue of the FLTA's publications can be viewed on the Association's website or ordered from the chief executive.

The website is also a mine of other safety information, including details of events and training courses.
