"You have to be in it to win it" stresses the Fork Lift Truck Association, as it seeks nominations for its Annual Awards for Excellence 2005, and don't be afraid to nominate yourself.

"You have to be in it to win it" stresses the Fork Lift Truck Association, as it seeks nominations for its Annual Awards for Excellence 2005.

"Now is the time to be thinking very seriously about who and what should be put forward for the judges' and voters' consideration," says FLTA chief executive David Ellison.

"And remember, this is not a time for modesty - we positively encourage companies and individuals to nominate themselves as well as others.

"If your achievements deserve an Award, please don't wait for someone else to nominate you.

"They might not do it.

"Similarly, if you admire someone else's work, make sure it is drawn to our attention.

"By nominating and voting, everyone in the industry can help to ensure that the most significant advances and contributions are duly recognised".

The deadline for nominations is Thursday 30 September 2004.

Nominating is very simple; start by asking for the appropriate easy-to-complete form, or download it from the FLTA website.

Clear instructions guide you through providing the essential information that will allow the FLTA Technical Committee to decide whether to include the nomination in its short-list.

Nominations can be made in any of the following categories: Product or service: Environment; Ergonomics; Safety; Innovation (note that to qualify, all products and services must have been made available to UK customers - or appeared in a public exhibition - between 1 October 2003 and 30 September 2004) Individual: Lifetime achievement; Services to the fork lift industry; Designer of the year (individual or team).

"The Awards - and the 'Archie' statuettes that go with them - are the industry's ultimate accolades," says David Ellison.

"They are highly prized and hotly contested - and with good reason.

"They carry enormous national and international prestige, which means that the publicity gained when the Awards are announced - and the longer-term use of the Archie logo on the winners' materials - has a tremendous positive impact on the businesses concerned".

Plans are well under way for the Awards 2005 event, a special tenth anniversary celebration of the Annual Awards for Excellence, which will take place in the plush setting of the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, on Saturday 26 February.
