Last chance to vote for fork lift truck awards
An amazing 27 nominations have made it past the selection panel's expert scrutiny to become finalists in the Fork Lift Truck Association Annual Awards for Excellence 2005.
An amazing 27 nominations have made it past the selection panel's expert scrutiny to become finalists in the Fork Lift Truck Association Annual Awards for Excellence 2005.
"That's almost double last year's total - and an all-time record for the Awards," says FLTA chief executive David Ellison.
"It just goes to show that competition for these accolades is fiercer than ever".
Between now and the closing date of Monday 31 January 2005, anyone working in materials handling is invited to vote in the crucial categories of Safety, Environment, Ergonomics and Innovation.
The importance of voting is stressed by FLTA chairman Richard Baxter: "These Awards encourage constant improvement by recognising and rewarding those individuals and companies who have made outstanding contributions.
"If they are to have their maximum beneficial effect on our industry, they must go to the most deserving recipients - which is why it is so vital that everyone should vote".
Voting cards are circulated to the depots of all FLTA member companies and are the only valid means of taking part (photocopies, faxes, etc will not count).
The process takes just a few minutes.
Voters are asked simply to read through the nominations, tick the boxes on the card and post it to arrive with the Association by no later than 31 January 2005.
It does not even cost anything, because the postage is pre-paid.
To give an idea of how strong and varied the field is, here is a list of the finalists in the Safety category: Brigade - bbs-tek low-noise, directional, localised movement alarm.
Castell - Salvo drive-away prevention system for articulated trailers.
Cat - N range counterbalance with safety built in from the ground up.
Hyster - JXMT ACX three-wheel electric with a range of safety features.
Jungheinrich - DFG/TFG 425-435 designed for high-stability travel and operation.
Long Reach - Pallet Puller for safer unloading.
Mondi - Fork Lift Truck Licence and Safe Driving Diploma.
Palletcap - Solution to stacking of fragile pallet loads.
As well as urging people to use their votes, the Association is reminding the industry that the Awards event itself - on Saturday 26 February 2005 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole - is certain to be another night to remember.
Bookings are being taken now (individually and in tables of ten) and a special table-arranging service will be provided to ensure that everyone is placed with appropriate, like-minded company.
As always, the tickets will disappear very quickly - so the best advice is to book now! For more information on the FLTA Annual Awards for Excellence 2005, or to make a booking, please contact the Fork Lift Truck Association.
