Platinum ABBA to entertain at fork lift awards
A fun-packed programme of entertainment has been announced for the Fork Lift Truck Association Annual Awards for Excellence 2006.
A fun-packed programme of entertainment has been announced for the Fork Lift Truck Association Annual Awards for Excellence 2006.
Leading the line-up of artists will be Platinum ABBA, a highly accomplished tribute band who successfully reproduce, fully live, all the sound, excitement and audience reaction of the ever-popular 70s act.
According to the London Evening Standard, they are "Better than the original"! This glittering highlight of the materials handling calendar will be staged at the illustrious Birmingham Hilton Metropole on Saturday 11 February 2006.
And, as the organisers emphasise, the event is not just important for its contribution to raising standards in the industry - it is also a fantastic night out.
Joining Platinum ABBA on the bill will be the singers and dancers of Intrigue - back by popular demand after last year's high-energy sound and light show covering chart hits from the 60s to the present day.
"On top of everything else, there is excellent food and drink to be enjoyed - and those who are up for it will be able to dance the night away," says FLTA chairman Richard Baxter.
"It is an ideal environment for meeting up with old colleagues and making new contacts.
"The Awards night always attracts a broad cross-section of the industry, including many leading figures.
"It is also a chance to see and appreciate the best that materials handling has to offer.
"Central to the event, of course, is the Awards ceremony itself, in which the industry's ultimate accolades - the Archies - are presented.
"It is expected that a 500-strong audience will be there to soak up the atmosphere and witness at first hand the eagerly anticipated announcements.
"For anyone who has heard the reaction in the hall when each winner is announced, or seen the smiles on the winners' faces, there can be no doubting the importance of these Awards".
This year's entertainment is sponsored by Linde Material Handling (UK).
The FLTA wishes to thank each and every one of the sponsors and supporters for making Awards 2006 possible.
Awards sponsors are: Albury Asset Rentals, Calor, CMP Batteries, Doosan Infracore UK, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, Narrow Aisle, and Storage Handling Distribution.
Entertainment sponsor is: Linde Material Handling (UK).
Event supporters are: Bolzoni Auramo Rental, Curtis Instruments (UK), Integrity Handling, Jungheinrich (UK), and Watts Industrial Tyre Services .
"If you want to join us in celebrating and encouraging achievement - and having a great time - make sure you book early," says FLTA chief executive David Ellison.
"Tickets for the Awards always sell out quickly.
"Many people book a table of ten and take along either their colleagues or important customers.
"For couples or smaller groups, we have a special table-arranging service ensuring that everyone is placed with a good mix of like-minded company - and not next to a competitor! "But whether or not you are able to attend, we hope everyone will remember to vote! "Look out for details in December and January.
"The validity of the Awards, and their effectiveness in encouraging improvement in standards, depends on strong voter participation, so our message is: use your vote, support your industry".
