Handbooks help in daily lift truck checks
A new easy-to-use Daily Checks handbook from the Fork Lift Truck Association is described as a vital weapon in the battle to cut accidents.
According to David Ellison, chief executive of the FLTA: "There is a clear and pressing need for truck operators to get the basics right in order to reduce the unacceptable level of truck-related accidents".
"For example, in a recent survey conducted out on behalf of this Association, it emerged that as many as 90% of operators are still not wearing seat belts".
""We have decided to tackle the problem head-on with this combination of clear, concise information and workplace safety posters.
Importantly, we are also offering a financial incentive for improvement through a series of money-off vouchers".
""The first is designed to help enhance driver performance by offering a 10% discount on operator training".
"The second will help ensure the truck is safely maintained day-to-day by offering a 20% discount on Daily Checks handbooks, while a third voucher is aimed at helping management keep abreast of legislation by offering a 20% reduction in the cost of joining the FLTA Safe User Group".
"The final voucher will encourage all concerned to join forces in order to win the Safe Site Award in the FLTA Annual Awards for Excellence.".
