Device protects moulder's
cooling/heating system
To protect the closed loop cooling/heating system of a plastics moulder from contamination, Lodent Precision connected a device that removes ferrous particles of less than one micron.
With proven success in automotive, hydraulic and machining operations it was no surprise to discover a further application for Magnom technology Ron Thorne, Partner in Lodent Precision(01543 453700) has recently fitted a Magnom mini module to the closed loop cooling/heating system of a Krauss Maffei plastic moulding machine to protect the system from the harmful effects of contamination

Achieving high water cleanliness in wash plant
As part of process performance and quality control, an automotive power train manufacturer set a target for water cleanliness for a gears washing process at below NAS class 8 - not an easy task.
Tube forming improved by emulsion filtration
System that uses sub-micron filtration of ferrous particulate without incurring any significant pressure drop has improved cleanliness levels - and quality - in a tube mill.
When asked of his experiences with Magnom Ron commented: "It's brilliant.
Within a week of fitting the unit on the cooling circuit I could see the sight glass on the machine clearing.
I know it's working because I can see the results.
The build up of contaminant within a system causes wear and failure on critical components such as pumps, heaters and chillers.
Installing Magnom ensures the waterways within tools are kept clear of debris.
Cycle times are maintained and hot spots reduced without expensive reworking.
This is all done without the problems of flow restriction and blockages associated with conventional filtration.
The Magnom is a revolutionary device which comprises a series of annular magnets and innovatively designed steel plates.
The Magnom removes ferrous, and some non-ferrous, contamination to less than one micron in a variety of fluids such as cooling water, hydraulic oil, lubricating oils and machine tool coolants.
The ability to remove contaminants to this degree makes it truly unique and its application within a system ensures complete protection from the hardest wear-inducing particles.
In the Magnom core, where separation takes place, the fluid passes through highly concentrated "field effect" zones, where the contaminant is drawn into special collection areas which have significantly more dirt-holding capacity than conventional filter elements.
Unlike conventional filter elements, the core is easy to clean and re-use.
Due to the unique design of these collection areas, fluid flow is not obstructed, there is no appreciable pressure drop incurred, and the Magnom does not "block".
