ITT Industries made a 57% saving by using Finishing Techniques' service. An aluminium part was CNC machined, then hand deburred before plating, now it is finished more economically.
Video microscope checks finished results
A video microscope gives users of finishing machines the means to instantly verify results.
The company's special subcontract finishing laboratory is crammed with the latest machines to ensure that a fast, cost effective and high quality service is delivered to customers in aerospace, automotive, tooling and engineering.
Finishing Techniques knows that many manufacturers need a temporary solution to finishing problems caused by machine breakdown, a sudden order surge, prototyping and testing.
A typical example is an aluminium part made on a CNC machine that was hand deburred before being gold plated.
The part maker made a 57 percent saving by switching to Finishing Techniques subcontract service.
Quality is always a big concern so Finishing Techniques have equipped their lab with high powered digital video microscopes from Sony.
These allow viewing and inspection of finished parts at up to 40 times magnification.
Besides their subcontract service the company also supplies a complete range of deburring and polishing equipment and consumables.
This is backed by a vast in-house knowledge gathered over many years.
Few finishing problems are ever the same.
Solving them by selecting the right equipment, media and process times is a speciality, as Jonathan Dean, managing director, says, "If we save our customers money and improve the quality of their finished parts then we have done the job right." On stand will be Otec CF disc and DF drag finishing equipment.
These compact units can be located in the CNC manufacturing cell for just in time production.
They are up to 10 times faster than vibro-machines and 20 times faster than conventional barrel finishing.
The CF is quiet too, eliminating one of the health and safety aspects of using large vibro-machines.
For lower volume use the company will be showing the Otec ECO range.
These bench top units are easy to site anywhere, simple to use and still give both deburring and polishing options.
Whether wanting to buy machinery or a subcontract service, the knowledgeable Finishing Techniques staff on stand G20 will be able to assist.
