Designed for automatically filling or decanting industrial containers from 100ml up to 1500 litre capacity, a filling machine has an articulated arm for maximum operator efficiency.

Leading liquid filling specialists Filling Solutions are introducing their robust StrongArm filling machine, designed for automatically filling or decanting industrial containers from 100ml up to 1500 litre capacity The company claims that traditional methods of container filling can be costly, both in terms of time and product waste due either to overfill (giveaway) or spillage

In addition, most methods rely on a high level of human interface and manual handling, which can present health and safety risks, as well as non-conformity to legal for trade requirements.

The StrongArm concept addresses all of these issues in a single compact design.

The simplicity of the design and build offers both a space and a cost effective solution, resulting in a machine which is easy to maintain and troubleshoot for engineers of all levels.

At the heart of the filling machine is a simple, yet cleverly engineered, articulated arm.

This has been ergonomically designed for maximum operator efficiency and productivity.

From a compact central pillar, the arm can be effortlessly moved to give a full 360 working radius with a reach of over two metres, thereby offering optimum filling versatility around the centre of the machine.

Both fixed and mobile versions are available and the company are confident that the mobile StrongArm is the most compact and maneuverable machine on the market.

Containers can be filled on pallets or introduced to the filling head via roller conveyors.

From a single press of a button, the dispensing lance descends into the container and begins filling automatically, initially in fast fill, then dropping to slow fill to achieve the required accuracy.

The only other operator interface required is to accept the filled container and move onto the next fill.

Filling Solutions have over 20 years' experience in the design and implementation of filling machines and as managing director John Clay explains: "We know that each customer's requirement is slightly different and the Strong Arm is designed so that it can be customised to meet the exact needs for each application".

"This takes into account both the filling environment and the liquid characteristics".

"For instance, Filling Solutions can advise on whether top or bottom fill, mass flow or gravimetric systems are best suited, and each StrongArm application is assessed to ensure the optimum blend of construction materials".

"For corrosive materials, lances in PVDF and polypropylene can be fitted, and ATEX certified units are also available to complete our comprehensive product offering".

"All our systems are fully assembled and tested in-house to ensure installation and commissioning is carried out with the minimum of disruption to our customers' normal operation." The all stainless steel construction, combined with the sealed bearings in the articulated arm and the unique internal protection of the pneumatic drive cylinders, ensures long term reliability even in the harshest of environments.

The clean, smooth lines of the StrongArm facilitate cleaning, whilst from a safety angle there are no finger traps.

For gravimetric filling, the Strong Arm can be supplied with a range of weigh scales and weight indicators.

Legal for Trade approved scales allow filling to be carried out to weights and measures non-automatic weighing requirements.

For optimum flexibility, multi-interval scales are available which allow the filling of different size containers on the same machine with the same relative precision.

For instance, such a set up could accommodate the accurate filling of 25 litre drums, 210 litre drums and 1000 litre IBCs, with the multi-interval scale effectively operating as three separate 3000 division approved units with ranges of 0-300kg x 100g, 0-600kg x 200g and 0-1500kg x 500g.

The Strong Arm is part of Filling Solutions' wide range of filling machines and ancillary equipment.
