Shaft laser shaft alignment system is friendly

A Fixturlaser product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 2, 2007

The Fixturlaser XA system is a shaft laser shaft alignment system that is more user friendly than any previous offerings, and significantly faster.

Compare a production unit to a Formula 1 racing team.

The pit stop crew monitors multiple parameters of the car and its driver continuously.

Any discrepancy in a measured value is instantly evaluated and considered in the planning of the pit stops.

The crew's main target, as in any industry, is to keep the car on the track performing at its best.

When the car enters the pit area, everyone knows exactly what to do to make the stop as quick and efficient as possible.

You may have the fastest car and the best driver, but if you remain too long in the pit stop you will loose the race.

hame thing within the industry; the fastest paper machine is not profitable, if it does not perform at its best around the clock.

The shorter the downtime, the higher the machine availability.

When Fixturlaser set out to develop a new laser-based alignment platform, the key objective was to reduce in any way possible the time consumed for performing a precision alignment.

The Fixturlaser XA system is the result - a shaft laser shaft alignment system that is more user friendly than any previous offerings, and, hence, significantly faster.

The technologies incorporated in the Fixturlaser XA include: Introducing CCD technology for better measurement quality, Increasing measuring range up to 30 millimeter detector reducing the need for preliminary rough alignment, Use of a line laser in place of the traditional point laser, adding to improved target acquisition and range, Screen presentation software programmed in Flash for animated 3-D graphics that greatly enhance the user's understanding of the measurement and alignment process.

The measurement and alignment software in the XA has been redesigned from the ground up.

This includes the on-screen presentation.

The touch-screen, graphical user interface, first pioneered in laser alignment systems by Fixturlaser, now incorporates animated 3-dimensional graphics.

The screen graphics keep the user in touch with exactly where they are in the process, and which steps to follow as they quickly complete an "Express Alignment".

In addition to new technologies, other design innovations have been included in the XA.

The system comes with the laser transmitter-detectors pre-mounted to save set-up time.

Both transmitter-detectors incorporate inclinometers, which are read by the system software.

Optional wireless transmitters allow elimination of the wires connecting the transmitter-detectors to the computer display unit.

The system is PC compatible and comes with network, RS-485 and USB ports allowing options for data download and upload.

The changes incorporated in the new Fixturlaser XA system have been driven by customer input form Fixturlaser users around the world.

Extensive testing has been undertaken to ensure that the XA system represents a significant improvement over existing laser alignment systems.
