A compact, high performance, 5-axis, five-sides CNC milling centre is intended for high speed machining of medium-sized workpieces up to 6 tonnes in weight.

Huron machine tools has adopted a corporate strategy of focusing on high speed machining, the elements of which include power, speed and accuracy, and these attributes are no better exemplified than in its KX five-axis, five-surface mill range Now, due to the global success of the high performance KX100 mill, Huron - through its sole authorised agent for the UK and Eire, Fortron UK - is now focusing on promoting its powerful 'baby brother', the KX50

With all the 'punch' and accuracy of the rest of the 'KX' range but in a more compact envelope, the KX50 is a high performance, 5-axis, five-sides milling centre, designed for high speed machining operations on medium-sized workpieces weighing up to 6 tonnes.

It is suited to both roughing and finishing work on material such as steel, aluminium and cast iron.

The centre, which is equipped with a dual rotary axis head, 30-tool magazine and 18,000 rev/min, 20kW, HSK 63 spindle; is particularly suited to the production of small-to-medium batch, complex parts, for the aerospace, mould and die and transport industries.

The powerful spindle offers effective removal on roughing cycles, a very high quality on surface finishing and outstanding contouring accuracy.

The universal head with direct drive (torque motors) achieves high speeds of rotation and extremely accurate positioning.

Options include 30-pocket tool magazine, three bar sprinkler, high speed smart conveyor and tunnel-type shroud for optimised workpiece loading.

Huron Graffenstaden was established over one hundred years ago and has delivered over 100,000 machine tools worldwide.

In the early 1990's, Huron made a strategic decision to concentrate on manufacturing machine tools capable of meeting the highest technological requirements of an ever changing world.

The Huron name is synonymous with the manufacture of extremely accurate and fast machine tools, with a build quality second to none.

With this reputation behind it, the current Huron range focuses on 3- and 5-axis CNC Vertical Milling Machines, which are suitable for the most demanding applications in all sectors of industry, from aerospace and automotive, right through to general engineering and medical.
