FLEX new bottle for traditional coffee milk

A Flex/the innovation lab product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Feb 12, 2007

Delft-based design firm FLEX/the INNOVATIONLAB has designed a new glass bottle for Friesche Vlag Goudband coffee milk.

The contents of the bottle have remained the same; the looks of the new packaging arouse more emotions, referring to the traditional "coffee moments".

The distinctive, less generic shape of the new bottle leaves a firm impression - much more so than the traditional packaging - and generates a stronger brand imprint.

DJPA has been responsible for the 2D design.

Coffee milk is a traditional product.

It requires a structural packaging design which communicates that drinking coffee is a special moment of quality time.

This has been the vision of the FLEX designers during the development process of the new glass bottle for their client Friesche Vlag.

The glass coffee milk bottle has always been allowed a place on the table and could therefore do with somewhat better looks according to FLEX/the INNOVATIONLAB.

This vision and ideas have resulted in a bottle with subtle lines and a more contemporary look that clearly differs from the traditional bottles.

The packaging leaves a clear visual impression and sticks to mind.

Simplicity in design has been a conscious choice: modesty is becoming for a dash of coffee milk.

The clear glass and gentle lines smartly express the delicate, creamy contents.

The Friesche Vlag label has been embossed into the neck of the bottle.

The glass bottles are available in three different sizes: 185 ml, 463 ml.

and 926 ml.
