To meet increasing UK demand for automatic lathe collets, a supplier has expanded its facilities and now includes an in-house collet grinding service.

The renowned Swiss collet manufacturers, Schaublin based in Delemont are moving more product to the UK to help meet the urgent needs of many British clients struggling to obtain collets from stock The initiative was co-ordinated by their UK agents Floyd Automatic Tooling who have represented the interests of Schaublin for over 12 years

Managing Director, Richard Floyd, said "We have been receiving an increased demand for collets for fixed head turning machines that use DIN specification collets like 171E (F42-99), 173E (F48-81), and 185E (F66-359).

Schaublin have always offered a very high quality collet at very reasonable prices, so it was a natural progression for us to enhance our range which has traditionally been orientated around the Sliding head automatic lathe collet".

Floyd has also expanded their facilities to include an in-house collet grinding service to accommodate the many odd sizes required in sub-spindle applications.

The service is primarily targeted at the Sliding head auto lathe user, but there are plans to expand the service during the year.
