Knurling tools minimise vibration
Designed for small automatic screw machines and sliding head automatics, a compact knurling tool system is designed to minimise vibration when knurling.
Floyd Automatic Tooling has introduced the Hommel and Keller tooling to the UK for knurling straight cut profiles The RF-LD series of knurling tool is designed for use in sliding head turning centres and small automatic screw machines

New tooling insert for full form thread cutting
A new, economically priced, Full Form thread cutting insert has just been introduced by Precitool UK Ltd.
* Reducing processing times whilst significantly enhancing knurl quality - the Hommel and Keller knurling tooling features extremely rigid construction to suit the requirements of small type CNC lathe machining operations.
The rigid construction is enhanced by a special bearing and bushing combination in the tool head that keeps vibration reduced to a minimum whilst machining.
The result is a rigid design that guarantees exceptional knurl quality, said Floyd.

Innovations in tooling at Mach 2000
Floyd Automatic Tooling is launching innovations on both new tooling and technical support programs at Mach 2000.
Single micron steps for small high precision drill
Floyd Automatic Tooling, a leading source of tooling for CNC sliding head machine tools, have recently added small high-precision carbide drills.
The Hollel and Keller design allows users to increase feed and speed rates without loosing out on process safety.
* Productivity and quality advantages - the Hommel and Keller system significantly simplifies tool setting to reduce set-up times.
With tool setting times often being a laborious and time consuming task, the new Hommel and Keller RF-LD series knurling tool's integrated setting spindle substantially reduces machine setting 'down time'.
The Hommel and Keller system can reduce setting times by up to 70%.
This simplified setting also increases process safety whilst delivering very precise knurling profiles.
Two setting pins that guarantee the correct setting of the clearance angle.
The pins are easily accessible even when the tool is clamped in the tool fixture.
The new RF-LD series has been developed from customer research and feedback - for example, Hommel and Keller has designed a tool that can be used both on left and right-hand turning machines, whilst providing flexibility in terms of machine usage.
Advantages of the system include the following.
* The RF-LD series can be used on all CNC type automatic screw machines.
* It is available with 8x8mm, 10x10mm, 12x12mm, and 16x16mm shank sizes.
* The basic tool holder (8x8mm) can be transformed by mounting different adapters for bigger shank versions for maximum flexibility.
* The modular shank construction provides the end user with enhanced flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
The knurling head can also be exchanged to adjust the tool to the necessary workpiece diameter.
For work pieces from 1 to 15mm a cut knurling head with knurl diameter 10mm is applied whilst for a working area of 3 to 50mm the manufacturer recommends the use of a knurling wheel with 15mm diameter.
Both tool heads can be used on any shank size.
The Hommel and Keller knurling tool system is guaranteed to enhance productivity considerably, said Floyd, whilst significantly reducing set-up times and cutting knurling costs.
