Parting-off lathe tools have longer life
For sliding head turning machines a range of parting off tools has been developed to enhanced tool life, rigidity and surface finish and will be shown at MACH 2008 along with four other products.
At MACH 2008, Floyd Automatic Tooling will launch a range of cutting tools for users of turning machines and sliding head automatic lathes The Baldock, UK-based company will show the Applitec Cut-Line and Modu-Line range as well as the MicroTurn system from Ifanger and the Hommel and Keller series of knurling tools

New tooling insert for full form thread cutting
A new, economically priced, Full Form thread cutting insert has just been introduced by Precitool UK Ltd.
* Sliding head automatic lathes - for users of sliding head turning machines the Cut-Line range of parting-off tools has been developed to enhanced tool life, rigidity and surface finish.
The double 'V' clamping system on the parting off tool guarantees maximum rigidity for improved tool life and surface finishes with tooling costs slashed by up to 60% in many instances, said Floyd.
Alongside the Cut-Line range will be the Modu-Line insert holders for quick change, pre-settable tooling for reduced downtime and improved productivity.

Innovations in tooling at Mach 2000
Floyd Automatic Tooling is launching innovations on both new tooling and technical support programs at Mach 2000.
Single micron steps for small high precision drill
Floyd Automatic Tooling, a leading source of tooling for CNC sliding head machine tools, have recently added small high-precision carbide drills.
Competitively priced compact broaching heads
Competitively priced compact broaching heads in Flo-topol range from Floyd Automatic Tooling.
The modular tool system designed for automatic bar turning machines has a 'groove' location that works towards a common standard shared by several machine tool and tooling manufacturers.
The enhanced Modu-Line system delivers a reduction in machine downtime and optimises the capabilities of the machine tool, said Floyd to manufacturingtalk.com.
The simple, but clever groove concept delivers rapid and efficient tool changeovers with the ability to preset and adjust tool lengths.
* Machining bores - for the internal turning of small bores, Floyd Automatic offfers the MicroTurn system from Ifanger.
Incorporating a special clamping system gives the Ifanger MicroTurn system a number of powerful and precise turning systems that provides the end user with a large selection of cutting tools and holders.
Using only the finest micro grained carbides for these cutting tools, all products can be supplied with a TiAlN coating.
Popular in the automotive, telecommunications, mechanical engineering and watchmaking industries, these very sharp cutting tools have proven extremely effective in the market.
Capable of turning internal diameters from 0.7mm the MicroTurn is available in a wide range of dimensions for boring (with or without chip breaker), copying, threading, grooving, chamfering and axial plunging operations.
* Knurling - a revolutionary tooling system knurls straight cut profiles.
Made available by principal supplier Hommel and Keller, the RF-LD series of knurling tool is ideal for small automatic screw machines and sliding head turning centres.
The compact tooling system incorporates an extremely rigid construction to suit the requirements of small CNC lathe machining operations.
The rigid construction is enhanced by a special bearing and bushing combination in the tool head that keeps vibration reduced to a minimum whilst machining.
Productivity and quality advantages are enhanced even further by the technically sophisticated design that significantly simplifies tool setting to reduce set up times.
With tool setting times often being a laborious and time consuming task, the new Hommel and Keller RF-LD series knurling tool substantially reduces times by up to 70% with its integrated setting spindle.
* Part collection system - also on show at MACH on the Macro CNC (Miyano UK) stand 5251 next to the Floyd stand will be the Schwanog part collector.
This automatic part collection system that will be attached to a turning centre at MACH gathers components safely without damage whilst having the ability to collect a specific number of parts for statistical process control (SPC) measures.
With parts often proving of considerable value, safe, damage free collection is increasingly important and with this in mind the Schwanog system is the ideal partner for part collection.
