The Solihull site of Land Rover has invested in its own Flir Systems ThermaCAM PM675 thermal imaging camera to provide a dedicated in-house resource.

The Solihull site of Land Rover has invested in its own Flir Systems ThermaCAM PM675 thermal imaging camera to provide a dedicated in-house resource.

Before this acquisition, the company used the services of an external consultancy to survey plant and equipment within the framework of its established preventative maintenance programme.

Defender, Range Rover, Freelander and Discovery models are all built at Solihull at a current line rate of 3,955 vehicles per week.

The site occupies 308 acres and comprises manufacturing divisions that are individually responsible for their own maintenance.

Having thermal imaging on-site will help rationalise maintenance expenditure.

The Flir camera was chosen by Land Rover for its proven performance, ease of operation and it was considered to be the best package for the job.
