Thermal imaging camera fits in palm of
the hand
Weighing 700 grams - 50% less than any model - a thermal imaging camera fits easily into the palm of the hand or on a tool belt.
Weighing 700 grams - 50% less than any other thermal imaging camera - and fitting easily into the palm of the hand or on a tool belt, the new ThermaCAM E2 from Flir Systems brings thermographic troubleshooting to a much wider range of users This latest addition to the ThermaCAM range provides crisp thermal imaging, precision temperature measurement and JPEG image storage, all at the touch of a button

Heat sensing to pinpoint faults is now for hire
For many companies a 'thermascan' is a name applied to a professional thermographic survey that pinpoints faults before they become fatalities.
And thanks to its compact size and IP54 water- and dust-resistance, the battery-powered E2 is ideal for on-site use in a wide range of sectors.
The ThermaCAM E2 includes a maintenance-free, uncooled microbolometer IR detector that offers excellent longwave IR imaging and measurement capability at a significantly lower cost.
These are viewed on the camera's integral 65mm colour LCD display with a 160 x 120 pixel resolution.

Updating thermal imaging saves energy costs
The Climate Change Levy is focussing the attention of many companies on improving plant efficiency to reduce energy costs. Thermal imaging cameras help identify hotspots and so save energy.
Insurer uses camera to help clients avoid claims
The engineering arm of Royal and SunAlliance has invested in a Flir Systems Thermacam to help clients minimise their cost of operation by detecting faults before they develop into insurance claims
In-house thermal imaging reduces maintenance costs
The Solihull site of Land Rover has invested in its own Flir Systems ThermaCAM PM675 thermal imaging camera to provide a dedicated in-house resource.
The infrared image instantly shows hot spots, revealing potential problems before they become critical.
Typically the camera will detect equipment overloading or overheating, insulation breakdown or bad connections as well as temperature differences caused by corrosion, leakage and ingress of damp.
The large LCD display eliminates the need for constant use of a viewfinder and maximises safety by allowing users to keep their working environment in view at all times.
Adjustable brightness and a viewing hood ensure optimum image viewing under all indoor and outdoor conditions.
The camera's TV imaging rate of 60Hz allows users to scan moving targets and record subtle temperature changes in real-time.
Advanced IR technology permits users to freeze the infrared image and make in-field non-contact temperature measurements at any one of 19,000 points on a single image over a range from -20 to +250degC (optionally to 900degC) and with a sensitivity of 0.12degC.
The built-in Laser LocatIR operates in the same way as a laser pointer and helps users associate the IR image displayed with the actual physical target.
This innovative feature also enhances worker safety especially in high voltage electrical environments.
The new ThermaCAM E2 camera not only provides real-time thermal images and measurements, it allows up to 50 images to be stored in the camera in standard JPEG format together with measurement results.
These can be recalled at any time onto the LCD display or downloaded to a PC with Flir Systems' ThermaCAM Connect software supplied as standard with the camera.
Downloaded thermal images can be easily incorporated into reports created in the users' preferred word processing programs.
A Li-ion battery allows over 1.5 hours of uninterrupted field operation between charges and can be conveniently recharged from either mains or 12V car supply.
Battery operating time can be extended by the camera's power saving features including automatic shutdown and sleep mode.
"Until now, the relatively high cost of infrared cameras has largely restricted their use to dedicated professional areas such as predictive maintenance in process industries and utilities," concluded Guy Pas, Flir Systems Vice President of Eurasia Sales.
"With the introduction of the ThermaCAM E2, cost is no longer an obstacle.
A thermal imaging camera can now be a standard part of any engineering toolkit." In addition to the ThermaCAM E2, Flir Systems is also introducing other models within the family to meet specific application needs and budgets.
These include the E1 that provides the same thermal imaging functions as the E2 but excludes temperature measurement and in-camera image storage. Request a free brochure from Flir Systems ...
