Thermal vision cameras give clearer images

Considerable R and D investment in thermovision has resulted in cameras for monitoring higher temperatures, providing exceptional image clarity thanks to highly sensitive long wave detector.

The products of its considerable and continued R and D investment will be unveiled at the show and are certain to delight visitors if not the company's competitors.

New products already launched to great acclaim include the new ThermaCAM P50F and P25F cameras.

These are purpose built with superior performance in high temperatures in mind.

With their introduction furnace applications are no longer the sole domain of cooled camera technology.

Exceptional image clarity thanks to the highly sensitive long wave 320 x 240 pixel detector, 24 field of view and superior physical protection against fierce heat are the main characteristics of these new additions.

The European-manufactured detector requires no export licence.

The detector and optics have been designed specifically for temperatures exceeding 300C; four ranges are selectable up to 1500 deg C.

Unlike other cameras whose resolution is just 5 deg C at 400 deg C, the ThermaCAM P50F and P25F models provide a phenomenal 0.6 deg C.

This performance enables the operator, for example, to identify the sharp edges that indicate external tube scaling as opposed to internal coking.

These new cameras are ideal for the inspection of all types of fired heaters used in the chemical and petrochemical industries, refineries and power stations.

They provide superior detection of scale, coke and slag build-up so that remedial action can be taken before the problem becomes a crisis.

Naturally all of the P-Series models will be demonstrated at the show, a professional range that is characterised by automatic functionality, built-in digital visual photography, Wizard-guided reporting and intuitive database software.

The 'top-of-the range' ThermaCAM P65 provides real-time 50Hz performance with a high level of thermal sensitivity.

This translates into exceptional image quality and greater problem-solving efficiency.

The ThermaCAM P65 can store up to 30 seconds of voice comment with each image.

Users can also make notes on a PDA running Pocket Word and then beam them into the camera.

The inclusion of Bluetooth as a standard feature enables wireless connection between the camera and earpiece with integral microphone.

If sensitivity is the primary requirement, also on show will be the B20HS and the S65HS.

These 'high sensitivity' versions of the B20 and S65 combine all the features of the original cameras, with the latest detector technology from FLIR Systems Indigo operations, delivering a 50mK sensitivity at full frame rate and no averaging required.

The introduction of the ThermaCAM E-Series torch style cameras made thermography accessible to industry at large.

FLIR Systems' top-of-range E65 model remains the only model of its type to include interchangeable optics and basic reporting software, both as standard.

This ThermaCAM also provides real-time image capture at 50Hz and stores up to 200 radiometric JPEGs.

Sound and colour alarms, moveable crosshairs and automatic cold/hotspot detection are all standard features.
