Heat sensing to pinpoint faults is now for hire
For many companies a 'thermascan' is a name applied to a professional thermographic survey that pinpoints faults before they become fatalities.
Updating thermal imaging saves energy costs
The Climate Change Levy is focussing the attention of many companies on improving plant efficiency to reduce energy costs. Thermal imaging cameras help identify hotspots and so save energy.
* Enhanced infrared images - the T-250 and T-200 cameras have FLIR's picture-in-picture FUSION that enhances the value of an infrared image.
By pushing a button, an infrared image is overlaid directly over the corresponding visible image.
FLIR told manufacturingtalk that the feature allows easier identification and interpretation of infrared images.
The cameras also have the following features.
* 200 x 150 infrared resolution (30,000 pixels).
* Automatic and manual focus for different users and various applications.
* High thermal sensitivity to pinpoint problems quickly.
* A touch screen capability for sketching diagrams and marking images, helpful in generating reports.
"Infrared cameras have become an important tool for electrical and mechanical contractors working to identify problems before equipment fails," said David Francoeur, director of marketing at FLIR Systems.
He continued: "The real benefit is being able to be proactive.
With an infrared camera you can order parts and schedule repairs as needed, helping save time and money in terms of maintenance, downtime and lost production".
* About FLIR Systems - FLIR Systems Incorporated designs, manufactures, and markets thermal imagers and infrared camera systems worldwide for a variety of applications.
FLIR's thermal imagers are used in such diverse applications as public safety, defense, navigation, electronic news gathering and search and rescue, as well as for electrical inspection, commercial and residential building inspection, indoor air quality and home energy monitoring applications, non-destructive testing, medical science, research and development, and manufacturing process control.
