Handheld instruments check electricals/electronics
Fluke will be showing a wide range of rugged handheld test tools suitable for electrical and electronic maintenance work in all areas of industry.
Pushbutton-selectable 25% voltage steps allow fast, easy linearity checks, while the built-in Span Check function enables fast zero and span confirmation.
Both loop current sourcing and simulation are standard, allowing measurement of current while at the same time providing loop power from the internal loop supply.
Selectable slow ramp, fast ramp and step functions provide the user with test signals needed for valve slewing and loop functional tests, allowing a single technician to troubleshoot the entire loop.
The new European regulations mean that users, whose working environment includes areas subject to explosion hazard, need to ensure that electrical and electronic equipment purchased from 1 July 2003 onwards is ATEX-compliant.
"As the world's leading supplier of handheld electrical and electronic test tools and calibrators, Fluke is committed to offering the highest safety standards in all its products," said Fluke UK Marketing Manager Industrial Tools, Ken West.
"The new 707Ex Loop Calibrator now extends the scope of the Fluke products into these hazardous areas, and brings users in these environments all the qualities of rugged reliability and high professional performance on which the Fluke brand has built its reputation around the world." Measuring just 164mm in length and with a weight of only 350g, the 707Ex is easy to handle and easy to take to wherever measurements need to be made.
Readings are in both mA and %, making the tool ideal for process instrument technicians working in explosion hazardous areas.
Also provided is a 250 loop resistance for use with HART instrumentation.
The 707Ex uses a single 9V battery that is easy to replace through the quick-change door without compromising the calibration of the instrument.
With this new calibrator Fluke combines its state-of-the-art technology in handheld test tools with the latest ATEX certification that assures users of a high standard of protection against risk of explosion (EX 2 G EEX ia IIC T4, CENELEC Zone 1 and 2 - where hydrocarbons/gases may be present during normal or abnormal operation).
