Roughing and finishing needs no head
change

For press tool and mould and die manufacture, a travelling gantry machining centre with a new five-axis milling head eliminates the need for head-changing to complete roughing and finishing.

The head is able to machine tapers and undercuts in press tools and dies.

Forest-Line says that toolpath simulation to avoid machine:work collisions and the reliability of the machining process were taken into account during the development of the five-axis head.

From a process simulation point of view, only one model of the head is necessary.

Also, when the part program has been finalised for roughing, risk of collisions is minimised as the model is the same.

The Easymill has axis movements of 6000mm, 3200mm and 1500mm in X, Y and Z respectively.
