Foregone Solutions has announced the Fikus range of products is now available directly from the UK.

Foregone Solutions has announced the Fikus range of products is now available directly from the UK.

This currently comprises of 2D turn and multi axis Mill/Turn.

Tony Grew Business Development Manager for ForeGone Solutions said "These products have been available in Europe for many years; it is time for the UK engineers to get the benefit of the previous development period.

It is especially good news for those companies that have invested in multi axis Mill/ Turn machines and are unhappy with their current software, and need to move to the next level of expertise to satisfy the ever demanding customer." Fikus enables the creation and modification of required geometry, as well as importing geometry from other CAD systems via IGES, DXF or PLT.

In addition, it provides an unlimited undo/redo, intelligent trimming, print with preview, as well as specific gear creation functions.

There is a direct link to Cimatron E6 and above.

Fikus for lathe application offers a flexible and functional solution for today's toolmaker, and it not dependent on the age or type of the lathe in use.

Fikus for lathe is specifically designed to be quick and easy to use, using a range of innovative tools.

The product is a Windows 32-bit native application, with dynamic OpenGL rendered graphics, and user interface with clear and concise icons and toolboxes, making the learning process easy.

The major machine manufacturers are implemented with optimized technological tables.

This an application that provides a solution for programming NC lathe's, which assist the user in producing complex tool paths quickly and efficiently.

Customized tables for each machine, help to obtain accurate G-codes and allow the user to work in a familiar environment.

Fikus automatically detects different geometries to apply the adapted technology.

The user can select roughing or skimming passes, while the application sets the required parameters and automatically creates the appropriate tool paths.

Multi- contour selection is enable "by window" and the application detects islands and closed and open contours.

Tony Grew said we are now finding more customers with lathe machines that have a driven tool with milling capabilities (Driven-tool machines with a X, Z and a C axis) or Mill/Turn machines with specific spindles for lathe and milling (X, Y, Z and C axis) that can combine a diversity of procedures such as lathe, 2.5D milling positioned milling using the C axis, side or frontal milling and continuous C axis milling.

This machines are essential for the production shop floor where the critical point is to save time in the machine of every part (even one second can be critical if the series to produce is huge).

Manually programming these kinds of machines is not easy and therefore the use of a CAM system is nearly essential.

This "One package" will run the whole shop or section.
