A major campaign is being launched to support the battle for survival of British manufacturing against unfair foreign competition, 'red tape' and skills shortages.

UIC President Bill Poeton said he was delighted to be teaming up with the FPB, particularly for its powerful lobbying influence in Westminster, the EU in Brussels and its growing voice in the media nationally.
"We want to work with the FPB, using our combined clout to campaign for a better deal for manufacturers," he said.
"Since 1977, the UIC has brought to the forefront of public debate the case for manufacturing, notably helping to mastermind the introduction of the Small Firms Loan Guarantee scheme over twenty years ago.

The FPB's national chairman Len Collinson said he is determined to fight hard for manufacturing, a sector critical to the success of the economy.

"Our lobbying, business guides and member services helpline will help hard-pressed and busy firms cope with the complex and, at times, bewildering array of legislation.
