launched

'The Guide' will be unveiled at this year's Innovation Forum to be held on 4th October 2006 at the 5-Star Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa in Leeds, UK, and will provide food and drink businesses with essential information as well as provoking and assisting business owners to adopt best practice.
Project manager Dr John Stanford, Food Processing Faraday Partnership explained, "The Guide will provide businesses in the region with a concise, clear guide to legislation and topical subjects, as well as summaries of established technologies and processes".
"It will be dynamic source of information responding to issues and market trends and will be presented in a durable and updateable file suitable for all factory environments." 'The Guide', which will be supplied free of charge, will initially feature data sheets on Food Regulations, Hygiene Schedules, Energy Utilities, Establishing Shelf Life, Micro-testing Regimes, The Waste Hierarchy, Pasteurisation and an Introduction to Logistics.
New data sheets are to be added and these will be circulated both in hard copy and electronically on a quarterly basis.
Contributions to 'The Guide' will be drawn from the processing technology expertise of the Food Processing Faraday and the food science and technology knowledge of EFTAS.
The content has been sense checked by Darren Gedge, technical director for Challenger Foods to ensure that it appeals to businesses.
David Grimstead is providing input on Food Law and Safety issues.
Sarah Knapper, managing director, FTAS commented, "'The Guide' is an innovative way of providing businesses in our region with the sort of information that will really make a difference.
Information is drawn from experts from within our partnership and beyond and the format of 'The Guide' means that we can respond to changes very quickly.".
