Pressure transmitters offer better accuracy
By applying a proprietary characterisation and compensation process to its line of intelligent pressure transmitters improved process measurement and control are obtained.
Invensys Process Systems has announced that a wide range of key, Foxboro-brand pressure transmitters will now achieve the industry's highest accuracy levels.
By applying a proprietary characterization and compensation process to its line of intelligent pressure transmitters, Invensys has achieved performance improvements that can provide users with improved process measurement and control.
These new accuracy specifications apply to both digital communications and the 4 to 20mA output signal.
"For applications in industries such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and power, manufacturers are demanding more accurate and reliable measurements to improve product quality, process control and efficiency," said Joseph Downey, marketing director for the Foxboro Measurements and Instruments Division of Invensys Process Systems.
"Better accuracy reduces Total Probable Error.
We have now set a new standard in providing the most accurate, best-supported line of pressure transmitters available." The Foxboro Premium Performance line now carries an accuracy specification of +/-0.025% of span for spans as low as 10% of maximum span (10:1 turndown).
Even when calibrated for spans as low as 1.25% of maximum span (80:1 turndown), the accuracy is better than +/-0.050% of span, a significant improvement over competitors' premium performance transmitters.
This performance makes the transmitter ideal for applications such as wide ranging flow rate measurement where high accuracy is needed over a very wide differential pressure range.
Within the very high 400:1 turndown Foxboro Multirange line, Invensys has improved the accuracy to +/-0.050% of span and maintained this specification for turndowns as high as 80:1.
Even when span turndowns are as high as 400:1, the accuracy remains within +/-0.25% of span, a performance at turndown not seen in the industry until now.
Multirange transmitters are optimized for performance over a wide span adjustment range making them outstandingly versatile.
They are extremely easy to apply since the wide adjustment range is like having 'two transmitters in one', satisfying many applications with just one transmitter.
Invensys has also improved the performance of the most popular versions within the Foxboro Standard Performance line, with an accuracy improvement to +/-0.060% of span.
Again, the turndown performance is outstanding, maintaining accuracy better than +/-0.20% of span even with spans as low as 2% of maximum (50:1 turndown).
This represents a 25% improvement over the most popular competitive model.
Whether Premium Performance, Multirange, or Standard Performance transmitters, these intelligent, two-wire devices transmit a 4 to 20mA or digital output signal compliant with HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus communication protocols.
Each pressure transmitter uses the same innovative topworks packaging with modular intelligent electronics.
This simplifies installation, operation, servicing and spare parts requirements.
Invensys today also announced industry-leading warranties across its pressure product line.
