Brand design gets futuristic facelift

Designers from the cream of the UK's packaging design house will be showing off their take on how to give brands of today and tomorrow the extra pizzazz

Visit the Design Gallery at PACK-IT a 350m2 special feature within Food and Drink World 06 - (Foodex Meatex Hall 10) Birmingham NEC March 19-22, 2006 Kinneir Dufort and The Technology Partnership will be exhibiting the slim and elegant Sommelier Wine Box

It features an intelligent LCD display to indicate temperature, volume remaining and drink by date.

Also on show will be its Elements ready meals pack: a two part oven-to-tableware concept made from recycled paperboard with ceramic coated inner plastic modules that give the sensation of eating from a plate.

A vision of today and tomorrow for food and drink markets is given by Siebert Head's designs for Cinara's Centrone vegetable range in glass jars and Soda Pod.

The futuristic Soda Pod is a convenient and compact flexible and elastic soft drinks pod that saves space both in the home and in the shopping basket.

Ziggurat Brands will be showing off its new branded packaging for Dairy Crest's Over the Moon blended cheeses .

The cheeses are packed in a wedge shaped tray and transparent sealed film wrap.

The design house was also responsible for the brand creation, naming, brand identity and marketing material.

Factory Design will be exhibiting its futuristic self-cooling wine glass featuring a new synthetic mineral with a hydrolysed quick chill feature to open up new markets for drinks such as wines, beers, soft drinks and water.

Also on show will be its Kidz Grocer project which gives a whole new meaning to both vending and healthy foods for children.

The 'Cool Fuel' Bottle - bespoke packaging on a tight budget - for Yorkshire Water will be exhibited by the Alloy.

The funky, exciting and reusable bottle is being used alongside distinctive water coolers as part of their 'Cool Schools' campaign.

The Alloy will also be showing off its futuristic Lifestyler boutique shopping experience that biometrically scans consumers and creates a balanced pre-prepared meal for the shopper.

DCA-Design is introducing Fruit Burst a new pack aimed at making healthy drinks interesting to children.

Interactivity and customisation mean that children are involved with the product in a way that conventional soft drinks' packs don not allow.

Also on show will be its animated electronic milk carton .

PI3 will be exhibiting its futuristic drinking glove - Yonomi , alongside current designs for a range of confectionery products Design Reality's Galvanise is a tailored energy and sports drink .

The bottle is made up of two chambers separating water and glucose.

A smart label is featured on the bottle cap where the consumer places their thumb before opening it to detect a blood sugar level.

The bottle distributes an amount of glucose according to the reading which mixes with the water in the cap.
