Two equal turrets mill independently
Two independently operating turrets on the Pollard Mori Seiki ZT2500Y Multi-Axis Turning Centre can individually serve each of two opposed driven spindles and so offer greater flexibility.

Compact five-axis VMC offers high capacity
For the high speed machining of turbine blades and mould and die parts, Pollard Mori Seiki is offering an extremely rigid and compact, simultaneous five-axis vertical machining centre.
System proves more versatile than pallet shuttles
With experience of radial and shuttle layouts, Plenty was seeking a more compact and versatile system. A Fastems DMC-MD medium duty pallet handling installation provided the answer.
A second turret is usually provided with only enough capacity for second-operation milling and drilling.
Pollard Mori Seiki, on the other hand, has provided its ZT2500Y with two opposed 18.5/15kW spindles, (22/15kW as option) each having equal turning torque and capacity, and two turrets with milling capability.
Consequently, the user1s production engineering department can balance operations more effectively and achieve reductions in cycle times.

Pollard Mori Seiki's extremely compact CL Series of CNC chucking lathes offer superior rigidity to support continuous high speed machining of production components.
Long-bed machining centre is built for speed
A substantial three-way guideway system, which supports the longitudinal travel of a moving column, provides theSVL5020 long-bed VMC with plenty rigidity for the high speed milling.
High speed machining centre reduces downtime
Capable of machining workpieces up to 2000kg the Pollard Mori Seiki SH8000 horizontal machining centre offers faster traverses and tool-changing times and shorter pallet changeover cycles.
Simultaneous three-axes milling operations, using the C, X and Z axes, can be readily programmed for both turrets through Pollard Mori Seiki1s new generation MAPPS CNC operating system.
MAPPS features include conversational programming, program editing, tool lists, time studies, data input/output, operations simulation, maintenance management and a special program for soft jaw machining.
Employing its well-established torque-tube structure in its slant bed design, Pollard Mori Seiki provides plenty of structural rigidity and stiffness to cope with increased machining loads and maintain close tolerances in complex work.
Spindle design is gearless, beltless and features an oil jacket to minimise thermal displacement.
Chucking capacity is for a 250mm (10in.) chuck.
Accuracy of machining is expressed in terms of 0.61 micron roundness, using a diamond tipped tool in 120mm diameter brass bar at 1000 rev/min and 0.05mm/rev feedrate.
In terms of X-Y plane roundness, groove roundness is within 4.4 micron.
This result was achieved using an end mill to cut an annular groove in the face of a brass billet around a 40mm inner diameter circle; at an orbiting speed of 127mm/min.
Main spindle speed was 1270 rev/min.
Working envelope for each spindle and turret combination is up to 390mm turning diameter by a maximum turning length of 350mm.
These working envelope dimensions represent a gain of some 50mm on diameter and turning length over similarly sized twin opposed spindle machines on the market.
Actual axis travels for each spindle and turret combination are X and X1 - 200mm and Z and Z1 - 960mm (upper and lower turrets).
The B-axis traverse of the opposed spindle moving headstock is 985mm.
Turret indexing time, station to station, is 0.2sec.
In addition, Mori Seiki has provided the turret with a really generous Y-axis stroke of +/-70mm compared with +/-50mm on many similarly sized machines.
Turrets are supplied in a standard VDI quick-change configuration to take 12 tools.
An optional turret design accepts bolt-on tool units.
Indexing time is 0.2sec station to station or, for example, 0.6 sec moving directly from station 1 to 6.
Live drilling capacity is up to 14.8cm3/min.
Balanced turning capacity is up to 408cm3/min.
System upgrades include automatic load/unload devices, servo driven part-catchers and bar feeders. Request a free brochure from Mori Seiki UK ...
