Compact CNC chuckers offer plenty of power
Pollard Mori Seiki's extremely compact CL Series of CNC chucking lathes offer superior rigidity to support continuous high speed machining of production components.
The spindle will accelerate 0-12,000 rev/min in 3sec.
To satisfy the demand for highly efficient and precision five-axes machining of components, such as for the aerospace, mould and die and communications industries, Mori Seiki has designed a compact vertical machining centre with a generous working volume.
The trunnion-type tilting/rotary table has a generous tilt angle of +15deg to -105deg from the horizontal.

High speed machining centre reduces downtime
Capable of machining workpieces up to 2000kg the Pollard Mori Seiki SH8000 horizontal machining centre offers faster traverses and tool-changing times and shorter pallet changeover cycles.
Rotary transfer machines are flexible and fast
Following an agreement with Mori Seiki, Japan, Fredk. Fredk. Pollard and Co will be offering a new series of fast rotary transfer machines. They will use the Mori Seiki FM 3-axis modules.
Contoured parts of up to 630mm diameter by 450mm in height, and 400kg, can be worked on the 500mm2 table.
The table traverses along a 765mm Y-axis from underneath a fixed portal to be clear of the vertical spindle head.
So operator access to the work area is not hindered by the spindle head.
The direct drive spindle head carriage traverses 610mm along the bridge, on linear roller bearings along widely spaced guideways.
Vertical (Z-axis) movement of the spindle head is 460mm.
Fast traverse rate is 42m/min and feedrate 1-42,000mm/min in all axes.
The bridge itself is a substantial cast iron structure mounted on the cast iron bed.
Mori Seiki has designed the bed with a centre trough for the efficient disposal of chips.
The substantial trunnion-mounted table has a feedrate of 0-8.3 revs/min in the A axis (tilt) and 0-12.5 revs/min in the C-axis (rotation).
The table movements can be continuous or positioned in increments down to 0.001deg.
Spindle speed range is 0-12,000 rev/min.
An option is a 20,000-rev/min high-speed head.
The direct drive spindle motor is rated at 11/7.5kW or optionally, 18.5/15kW for the high-speed spindle.
The tool magazine has a capacity for 30 BT-40 shank tools.
Maximum tool diameter, with adjacent tools, is 80mm and maximum tool length is 300mm.
Tool change time is 0.9sec tool-to-tool and 3.7sec chip-to-chip.
Overall dimensions of the Mori Seiki GV-503/5AX VMC are 2558mm deep by 3844mm wide and 3174mm high - a very compact size for the machine's capacity.
The CNC is the Mori Seiki MSG-806, which features Mori Seiki's well-established MAPPS advanced programming system.
For simultaneous five-axes machining, the CNC performs positioning, linear and circular interpolation.
Helical interpolation is optional on two axes plus one other.
There is storage capacity for up to 200 programs.
The input/output interface is RS-232-C/PCMCIA, Type I and II.
MAPPS offers conversational and automatic programming, program simulation, tool registration, optional networking and other features.
Standard features of the GV-503/5AX VMC include oil cooler and internal chip conveyor.
There is a wide choice of options, including through-coolant drilling system, air-blow, external chip conveyor, direct scale feedback and shower coolant system.
The Mori Seiki GV-503/5AX VMC is a very compact, powerful, precise and efficient machine, ideal for sub-contract or OEM usage. Request a free brochure from Mori Seiki UK ...
