Mill-turning centre offers generous
Y-axis

Generous rotary and Y-axis travels on a substantial machining head fitted to the Pollard Mori Seiki MT1500 Series of mill- turning centres allow very complex components to be machined.

Extensive use of the generous rotary and Y-axis travels on a substantial machining head fitted to the Pollard Mori Seiki MT1500 Series of multi-axis mill-turning centres allow very complex components to be machined in one or two set-ups Introduced during the recent EMO machine tool exhibition in Hannover, there are two variants of the MT1500

The basic MT1500 is equipped with an oil-cooled 11/7.5kW or 15kW headstock for operation up to 6000 rev/min.

A programmable tailstock equipped with a fixed MT3 centre or a live MT4 centre has a travel of 120mm.

The MT1500S is equipped with twin, opposed headstocks.

C-axis rotational speed is up to 300 rev/min.

All MT1500 variants feature a substantial, oil-cooled machining head, which is carried in a massive travelling column.

The head has +/-120 deg of rotation in the B-axis and a generous +/-70mm Y-axis travel.

The machining head is rated at 5.5kW and operates at up to 12,000 rev/min, or optionally, 20,000rev/min.

Rotational speed (B-axis) is up to 34 rev/min.

The head is served by a double-arm tool changer which changes Sandvik Coromant Capto C5 tools - up to 90mm diameter - in 1.3 sec tool-to-tool - from a chain magazine.

Chain magazines can be specified for 20, 40, 60, 120 or 180 tool pockets.

A precision servo-driven worm drives the machining head rotation and is programmable in 0.001 degree increments.

The head takes only 2 sec to index through 90 deg.

Through spindle coolant delivery is standard.

The travelling column has 970mm of Z-axis movement and can perform machining tasks at either headstock on the MT1500S.

The second headstock, also oil-cooled, is rated at 7.5/5.5kW and has speeds up to 6000 rev/min.

Distance between the spindle noses on the opposed headstocks is 935mm.

Feedrates in X, Y and Z are 24, 16 and 30m/min respectively.

Turning capacity is 400mm by 920mm.

Maximum workpiece swing is 830mm diameter, or 480 - 760mm diameter over cross slide.

Components can also be produced from 48mm or 65mm bar for which bar feeders are optionally available from Pollard Mori Seiki.

Equipped with Mori Seiki's MSG 501 CNC and MAPPS operational management system, very complex workpieces can be quickly programmed.

Workpiece examples include hydraulic valve spools and clutch housings, high speed centrifuge components, crankshafts and pump and valve parts machined from tough ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.

The MSG 501 CNC includes command increments down to 0.001mm, a load monitoring function, 240 tool offsets, background editing, RS-232-C and PCMCIA (I and II) ports.

The MAPPS operational management system includes programs for soft jaw turning, editing, tool list, time study and operation simulation.

The CNC and MAPPS are contained in one panel, which can be swung out through 90 degrees to facilitate setting up and editing.

There is also a wide range of options including, for example, automatic parts catching equipment and workloading gantries, bar feeder, tooling and work probing systems. Request a free brochure from Mori Seiki UK ...
