How to design and develop the ultimate VMC
Drastic redesign of a VMC, aimed at attacking downtime, has seen dramatic improvements in spindle and axis acceleration times, resulting in a VMC that can reduce cycle times by over 20%.
Second four-axis machining centre acquired
A five year contract to supply titanium and aluminium brackets for the aerospace industry has prompted investment by a subcontractor in a second machining centre with a 4th axis.
The object of this evaluation was to provide detailed comparison data for its own products and for competitive products to enable customers to make an informed purchasing decision.
Additionally, the company's customers frequently demand to see how the equipment performs on their own components with their own tooling, so having a high quality machining centre able to cope with a wide range of requirements was of paramount importance.
The Mori Seiki NV5000 has been designed for rigidity, utilising both dynamic and static analysis to achieve the optimum frame design, while the direct drive spindle enables full power to be achieved at all spindle speeds.
Tool clamping is 1.5 times greater on the NV5000 than the previous model, a key feature for Nikken when conducting its trials.
Tony Bowkett, Group Managing Director Nikken-Europe, said, "We are delighted with the improved performance we get from the NV5000.
It enables us to find the true potential of our equipment under extreme cutting conditions.
As well as enabling us to clearly demonstrate the capability of our products, it has proved to be an invaluable training aid for our engineers, allowing them to practice implementations under a variety of circumstances and offer a better service to our customers." * About Pollard - formed in 1911, Fredk Pollard and Co is a privately owned company, and is one of Britain's premier suppliers and manufacturers of high quality, high precision machine tools and workholding equipment.
It works in partnership with its customers using its engineering expertise to cost effectively implement high precision and leading edge technology solutions. Request a free brochure from Mori Seiki UK ...
