First Pollard open house was well attended
Pollard's first open house at Mori Seiki's new Slough technical centre proved to be a well attended event, with visitors from aerospace, automotive, medical and general subcontracting.
Pollard's first open house at Mori Seiki's new Slough, UK, technical centre, in 2005, proved to be a popular and well attended event, with delegates from a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, medical and general subcontracting.
The centre is aimed at servicing the South of England, offering a permanent display of Mori Seiki machines featuring the Supermiller and those which have DCG (Driven at the Centre of Gravity) capability.
The technology, unique to Mori Seiki, provides a superior surface finish and enables the machine to accelerate and decelerate far more quickly by eliminating the majority of out of balance vibrational forces.
The open house was held in conjunction with Jemtech, Nikken, FSE, Kennemetal and Sandvik enabling visitors to maximise the use of their day by evaluating auxiliary equipment at the same time.
Steve Coull from Jemtech said, "The open house was a good opportunity for us to cement our relationship with Pollard, and demonstrates Pollard's commitment to add technical and commercial value to the sale of the machine tool by offering Cleanmist units and Blaser Swisslube cutting fluids." Jay Roche, Managing Director of FSE, was similarly enthusiastic, "It is a valuable opportunity to meet Pollard's customers and to get feedback on new coolant filtration and chip management systems, helping us to drive our development in accordance with customer's requirements." Local Mori Seiki service and support is provided by seven engineers based in Slough.
Additionally, there is spares support; direct links to the Mori Seiki factory in Japan; training facilities for up to 40 people; and facilities for machine demonstrations and cutting trials.
Steve Finn, Pollard's National Sales Manager said, "The early morning opening was appreciated by our visitors, enabling them to find out more about the Mori Seiki range and view the Slough centre without interrupting their busy work schedules.".

Marquin buys another Mori Seiki DCG
Marquin Engineering has bought a NH6300 DCG II to add to its previous Mori Seiki DCG (driven at the centre of gravity) purchases. -
5-axis machining centre can also turn parts
A 5-axis machining centre moves through its centre of gravity, avoiding out of balance forces, maximizes its rigidity with zero table overhang and can turn too. -
CNC multi-axis turning offers versatility, power
A CNC multi-axis turning centre has two spindles, two turrets and two Y-axis or, oprtionally, can be supplied with three turrets and three Y-axis. -
Turning centre has VMC power for milling
A mill-turn centre combines the power of a vertical machining centre with the capabilities of a lathe and offers thermal stability, very low levels of vibration and high damping. -
Machining and turning centres focus on rigidity
'Pure Technology' applied to machining and turning centres focuses on driving at the centre of gravity to achieve very low levels of vibration and high levels of rigidity and speed.
