Sawing centres integrate production, warehousing

A new sawing cell and powerful sheet metal processing cells shown at EMO 2005 included a compact processing centre that enables the optimum integration of warehouse and production facilities.

Logistics expert Remmert showed a new sawing cell and powerful sheet metal processing cells at EMO 2005.

The compact processing centre enables the optimum integration of warehouse and production facilities and is characterised by its modular design and high degree of future-oriented flexibility.

The new powerful sawing cell consists of a compact cassette store, efficient sawing machines, a powerful portal grabber - also referred to as the picking system - and the flexible PRO FMS production system.

Acting as mechanical and software interfaces, the picking system and the FMS software guarantee optimum and fully automatic linking of warehouse and sawing machines.

At rates of up to 55 dual feeds/h, the portal grabber enables very rapid bar changes.

Reduced production lead times, reduced materials handling and optimum sawing machine capacity utilisation are the main results of the cellular implementation.

* Efficient sheet metal and long stock processing - with its flexible PRO FMS production system, Remmert offers a vital system component for efficient processing cells in the fields of sheet metal and long stock.

The FMS system optimises and controls the production processes of production units, grouped about a fully automatic warehousing system.

Taking into account different optimisation criteria, the system supplies the connected machines with processing materials and production orders.

This facilitates the perfect interplay between warehouse and production facilities.

This mainly results in optimum machine capacity utilisation and low-staff operation.

* Live sawing demonstrations - incidentally, the efficiency of the new sawing cells were put to the test at the Remmert stand at EMO 2005: The storage logistics experts were demonstrating fully automatic sawing live.

For demonstration purposes, the picking system was connected to a saw of the stand partner Kaltenbach.

In addition, Remmert presented to the trade experts convincing reference projects on compact sheet metal and long stock processing cells by means of video feeds.
