Gigabit Ethernet is the first cost effective interface to enable data rates up to 85Mbytes/second of uncompressed camera image data to be transmitted over longer cable lengths.

Digital Camera technology sees the most significant development since the introduction of CameraLink with the first integrated Gigabit Ethernet cameras being launched by Pulnix, in the UK.

Gigabit Ethernet is the first cost effective interface to enable data rates up to 85Mbytes/second of uncompressed image data to be transmitted over longer cable lengths, typically 100m between hubs.

Other advantages include the ability to multicast the data to multiple computers simultaneously and the fact that Gigabit Ethernet cameras do not require traditional frame grabber hardware at the computer end.

Pulnix are now offering a number of their popular AccuPixel range cameras with the Gigabit Ethernet interface with further models to follow.

The TM4100GE is the highest resolution model delivering 4 megapixel images at 15 frames/s, while the TM1400GE provides a general purpose solution with 1.45 megapixels at 30 frames/s.

For high throughput applications where image fidelity is also key, there is the new TM6740GE, capable of delivering VGA resolutions at up to 210 frames/s.

All models are available in both colour (TMC) and monochrome versions.

All the cameras are supported via a software developer's kit (SDK) and also have generic support within our hardware independent development environment, Common Vision Blox.
