X-ray frame-grabber processes 'on board'

A Firstsight Vision product story

Carrying an 'on board' processing capability, a frame-grabber for inspection X-ray imaging is capable of handling 10, 12 and 14-bit images and supports up to 50 frames per second.

The XRI-1200 Enhanced Frame Grabber for Diagnostic and Inspection X-Ray Imaging.

The Dalsa Coreco XRI-1200 'Fluoro' is the latest member of the Anaconda advanced frame grabber series with powerful onboard processing capability.

Over the years, X-ray imaging has proved to be an invaluable inspection and diagnostic tool, not only in the medical imaging field but also for a wide variety of other applications such as food inspection, security, and more recently, it has gained popularity throughout the manufacturing process.

The XRI-1200 is a PC based real-time digital image processor board specifically engineered for demanding X-ray instrumentation and radioscopy applications.

The XRI-1200 is capable of handling 10, 12 and 14-bit images and supports up to 50 frames per second.

It has been designed for rapid system integration and comes bundled with easy-to-use software application development tools and utilities.

One of the most important features of the board is the adaptive image averaging, that can reduce noise in both still and dynamic images.

This averaging is localised such that areas in motion are averaged less, to reduce blur, while static areas are averaged more to give a clearer image.

Key features include: in-built shading correction for lens correction and alignment, programmable digital filters allowing improved image quality and contrast, local image storage to increase reliability and improve processing times, and a very flexible range of input formats including CCD, CMOS, flat panel detectors, and linear array scanners.

The XRI-1200 also supports higher resolution image data - 1K x 1K at 10, 12 and 14 bit depths.
