Advanced TDI cameras beat conventional linescans

Latest generation of advanced time delay and integration linescan cameras is designed for high speed, low light applications - with up to 100x the sensitivity of standard linescan systems.

The Piranha HS series is the latest generation of advanced TDI (Time Delay and Integration) linescan cameras from Dalsa Coreco, specifically designed to meet the challenging demands of high speed, low light applications, with up to 100x the sensitivity of comparable standard linescan solutions! The range comprises 2K, 4K and 8K linear resolutions with up to 96 TDI stages using 7 micron square pixels.

The radical new housing design ensures a greater thermal efficiency.

They also offer user definable stage selection (16, 32, 48, 64, 80 and 96) and bi-directional scanning (4K and 8K models only).

One of the most important features is the ability to set the cameras into an 'Area Mode' where the full 96 stages are exposed at once.

This facilitates a far easier camera set-up and makes focusing the camera a much easier task than it otherwise would be.

Other features include: programmable flat field correction to minimize sensor FPN and PRNU and to correct lens vignetting and non-uniform lighting, background subtraction to improve image quality in low contrast applications, selectable tap output from 40MHz - 640MHz (8K model only), up to 68K line rates with >100x anti-blooming.

All models use the CameraLink protocol, supporting Base, Medium and Full implementations, with optional M42 or M73 lens options.

A range of mounting and tripod options are also available.

Typical applications include flat panel display and electronics manufacturing inspection, parcel sorting (letters and flats) and document scanning, high performance web inspection, and other low light applications.

However, the price point of these cameras means they are gaining acceptance in traditional linescan applications where savings can be made by using less expensive lighting solutions.
