The New Cameralink To Gigabit Ethernet

A Firstsight Vision product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Sep 22, 2004

The New CameraLink to Gigabit Ethernet Adapters Dramatically Increase Transmission Distances Far Beyond Traditional Limits.

Gigabit Ethernet holds the promise of much improved data transmission distances, but camera support within the machine vision industry has, in the past, been lacking.

The new CameraLink to Gigabit Ethernet converter enables a standard CameraLink camera (base configuration) to be located up to 100m away from the host PC before the need for a GBit Ethernet hub.

Firstsight Vision can offer Gigabit Ethernet converters from two of our camera suppliers, Dalsa and JAI, both being designed to function with their respective cameras models.

These units all offer: Up to 100m distances between camera and host PC Standard CAT5 cabling compliance Comprehensive Windows SDKs Transfer rates up to 100Mbits/sec with less than 1% CPU usage CameraLink 'Base' configuration compliance Triggered synchronised frame acquisition General purpose I/O for camera controls.
