Fast data rates for high-res colour camera

A Firstsight Vision product story

The NEW JAI CV-M8CL is the colour version of the powerful CV-M2 and features high resolution, fast data throughput and rugged compact housings.

ITS, or Intelligent Traffic Systems have specific requirements, namely, high resolution, fast data throughput and rugged compact housings.

The new JAI CV-M8CL is the colour version of the powerful CV-M2 and combines all of these attributes! The cameras both share many common features which allows for an easy move to colour if the application requires it.

The CV-M8CL uses the CameraLink interface for easy cable specification and fast data transfer rates and offers 8 or 10 bit output via CameraLink.

The 1 inch progressive scan sensor offers 40MHz output using dual output and uses an RGB Bayer filter, the colour reconstruction being handled on the host PC to maintain the fast output.

The camera is designed to handle fast moving objects at high frame rates with high speed shutter function, asynchronous random trigger mode and partial scan mode.

In addition, features like burst trigger, reset continuous trigger mode, analogue iris video output plus knee and gamma function for single channel combine to make the CV-M8CL very suitable for demanding colour ITS systems.

The CV-M8CL has a resolution of 1600 x 1200 with 7.4ìm square pixels, and offers 17 full fps per channel, 30 fps using both channels.

Higher frame rates are possible using 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8 frame partial scan modes.

Programmable partial scanning can be used with a 1 line interval for start position and scanned lines to give ultimate control.

The camera also has a one touch black level and gain calibration function for dual channel readout.

The on-board restart continuous trigger mode (RCT) will particularly useful for traffic control, as will the analogue video outputs for both lens automatic iris control and composite monochrome video output for CCIR/EIA monitor.
