Compact machine vision fits into
automation
A compact machine vision system has all the processing power in a rugged enclosure and allows small cameras to be used, while the unit itself can be readily integrated into factory environments.
Firstsight Vision will be showing a comprehensive range of industrial vision products at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition, which have applications in inspection, automation and robotics Exhibits will include the VA61 compact vision system with Sherlock control software, a new range of Optronis high speed cameras and the versatile Common Vision Blox imaging toolkit

Modular vision cameras easily exchanged
The Accupixel range from Pulnix is a family of Cameralink cameras that benefit from an extremely modular design, allowing for easy exchange of camera models should the application require it.
Successor to popular machine vision camera
The new JAI CV-A10/A70 CL monochrome/colour cameralink camera series from JAI is the successor to the JAI CV-M10.
* Compact machine vision - the IPD VA61 compact machine vision system contains all the processing power in a rugged enclosure, instead of the camera head.
The compact vision approach allows small cameras to be used, while the unit itself can be readily integrated into factory environments alongside other automation controllers.
The VA61 supports two dedicated GigE camera ports (in addition to one GigE compliant network port) for a range of DALSA monochrome and colour GigE cameras such as the DALSA Genie.

Machine vision software frees up application time
Designed for quick and easy implementation, machine vision software frees up the time spent integrating system components allowing more time for developing the vision application.
Programmable LED Lighting Controller
The new PP900 programmable lighting controller includes patent pending 'Safe-Sense technology for use with the CCS range of machine vision illumination.
The use of GigE vision makes it possible to have long Ethernet cable lengths between the IPD VA controller and the inspection point.
The integral Sherlock software interface provides excellent flexibility and control through the use of a scripting language, offering the tools and capabilities for almost any conceivable inspection application, said Firstsight Vision.
* High-speed cameras - two new cameras from the Optronis range of CamRecord high-speed cameras feature GigE connectivity and an enhanced camera control package.
The CamRecord 450 is an entry-level high-speed camera, while the CamRecord 5000 is a high-sensitivity high speed camera with a frame rate of 5000 frames/s at full sensor resolution of 512 x 512 pixels.
By selecting reduced sensor areas, the frame rate can be increased up to 320,000 frames/s.
Both cameras have a maximum memory of 4 GB.
High speed cameras can be used either for inspection on high speed production lines or trouble shooting on machinery operating at high speed.
* Linked systems - Firstsight's 'camera tree' will show a number of camera types all simultaneously linked to a single computer via the Common Vision Box (CVB) hardware-independent imaging toolkit from Stemmer Imaging.
Firstsight Vision told manufacturingtalk.com that this extraordinarily versatile multi-camera connectivity allows simultaneous connection of cameras featuring different camera interface standards including USB, Firewire, CameraLink and GigE Vision.
