Spectrum 3 EDI software used by fabric warehouse

A Freeway Commerce product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 15, 2007

Fabric warehouse chooses Spectrum 3 EDI software to increase margins and improve supply chain efficiency.

Spectrum 3 EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) software from Freeway Commerce to exchange invoices and orders with its suppliers in the UK and beyond.

The decision was made as part of an overall IT strategy to adopt EDI as a method of exchanging information for all trading partners.

Freeway Commerce's solution was selected for its ability to enable communications with differing technologies, as well as providing a lower cost web trading option as part of a single solution.

The company expects to achieve significant benefits from using Freeway's software, with improved margins and increased efficiencies in the supply chain.

The selection of Freeway Commerce's solution was as a result of a review of its EDI systems.

There was a need to implement an infrastructure for all IT systems including payroll, EPOS, and HR, following the departure from its group company Rosebys and the subsequent conclusion of the IT services agreement.

Freeway Commerce's proven experience in migrating a trading community to EDI and the web option were key factors in its selection.

Now in the process of implementing Spectrum 3, Freeway Commerce is working with Fabric Warehouse to roll it out to suppliers.

The company is actively working with suppliers to encourage those who are on EDI VANs to move to less costly FTP technology.

Spectrum 3 integrates with Fabric Warehouse's back office systems, including finance, human resources, payroll, point of sale and merchandising systems based on Dynamics NAV, part of the Microsoft Dynamics suite, implemented by IT services company K3.

According to Glenn Aungles, Project Sponsor and Finance Director at Fabric Warehouse, "Freeway Commerce's solution was an easy choice.

The simple commercial model and the ability to connect with our trading community whatever their technology made this a straightforward decision.

In particular the low cost web portal included as part of the package made it an extremely attractive solution.

"Freeway Commerce is actively working with us to provide excellent support to our suppliers.

With the system in place it will help us to significantly improve efficiencies in our supply chain," said Paul Kaye, sales director of Freeway Commerce.

He continued: "Businesses like Fabric Warehouse recognise the importance of investing in IT back office systems that smooth the flow of transactions.

Spectrum 3 is designed to enable these transactions that allow secure, fast exchange of data".

Kaye concluded: "By encouraging the supplier community to move to EDI, administration is faster and streamlined, with reduced mistakes, significantly benefiting the bottom line.".
